"Bathroom floor plans" - when I use this phrase does it conjure up images of finding the perfect source for bathroom floor plans that will somehow magically put your whole bathroom remodeling project all together? Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you but what the phrase "bathroom floor plans" actually should be providing you with is actually the starting point for your entire bathroom remodeling project.
Now you want to grab an assistant and a tape measure and take measurements of all of the walls in your bathroom. You want to be able to use these measurements to create what's called a scaled drawing to actually use in your bathroom floor plans.
Next you can grab some graph paper and layout the drawing to scale. If your bathroom is basically a rectangle 10 ft wide by 8 ft deep, draw a rectangle on the graph paper that is sized to a scale. You could put this floor plan on an 8 ½" x 11" sheet of graph paper by letting each inch on the drawing represent one foot in your actual floor plan.
Once you're satisfied that you have the basic shape of the floor plan drawn to scale, you might want to make copies of this basic floor plan. You can sketch different fixtures onto one of the copied drawings and be able to erase the fixtures without erasing the bathroom floor plans.
Now you can start drawing in, to as close to scale as you can, the basic fixtures that your remodelled bathroom will have, The sink/vanity unit, the tub/shower, the toilet and any other fixtures you want. Mark the location of the main drain line just for reference sake.
You can cut out pieces of paper the size of your main fixtures if you want to try "playing around" with the arrangement of the fixtures.
You can get a very nice selection of some basic bathroom floor plans at this website: http://www.us.kohler.com/designkb/designservice/floorplan.jsp You can use the look of these bathroom floor plans to stimulate you to create your own exact floor plan.
I hope this short article has shown you the importance of beginning your project with some time spent creating your basic bathroom floor plans.
